Tax Preparation for Businesses and Their Owners

Your business return and your personal return, prepared by the people who already know your books.

Our primary focus is businesses and the people who own them. Because we understand both the business and the personal side of your tax situation, we can make sure your records are organized, accurate and ready when it is time to file.

We do not operate a walk-in tax preparation service, and we generally do not accept stand-alone individual returns. Our tax clients are business owners and their families, which lets us take a more complete approach to bookkeeping, tax preparation and year-round planning.

Already Have a CPA? We Will Work With Them.

Already have a CPA or tax preparer you trust? Great. We are happy to handle the bookkeeping, maintain your financial records and prepare tax-ready reports while working directly with your tax professional.

The goal is a seamless process: accurate, organized information that lets your tax preparer work efficiently and effectively.

CPA or Tax Preparer?

Lea Ann Sanford is not a CPA, but she holds the credentials required to prepare and file tax returns. For many small businesses and their owners, that is a practical, cost-effective option without giving up professionalism or attention to detail.

If you would rather have a CPA prepare your return, we are glad to connect you with one of several trusted CPA firms in the area. Whether that means working with us, working alongside your current CPA or a referral to another professional, the aim is the right fit for your needs.

Putting Your Best Interest First

We give honest guidance. If your tax situation becomes more complex, or reaches the point where specialized CPA expertise would serve you better, we will tell you.

Advanced tax planning, complex business structures, multi-state filings, audit representation and other specialized matters are times we will gladly refer you to a qualified CPA or specialist. Our job is not simply to prepare a return. It is to make sure you have the right professional support as your business grows and changes.

Tax Planning Happens All Year

One of the biggest misconceptions about taxes is that planning happens when the return is prepared. In reality, the most effective tax planning happens throughout the year.

As tax professionals and fellow business owners, we strongly encourage regular planning meetings to review your financial statements, talk through how the business is performing and plan before year-end. Those conversations let us be proactive instead of reactive, and they help prevent unwelcome surprises when it is time to file.

In these meetings, we can discuss:

  • Estimated tax payments
  • Cash flow and profitability
  • Major purchases and equipment
  • Payroll and owner compensation
  • Retirement contributions
  • Business growth plans
  • Tax-saving opportunities before year-end

If you wait until January to talk about taxes, there is often very little left to change. By then, most of the decisions that affect your tax bill have already been made. Meeting during the year gives us time to review your financial position, find planning opportunities and decide while there is still time to act.

The goal is for you to understand the tax effect of a business decision before you make it, so you can plan with confidence and avoid unexpected tax bills whenever possible.

Secure Client Portal and Document Exchange

Protecting your financial information is a top priority. All client communication, document exchange and electronic signatures run through TaxDome, our secure client portal.

Through TaxDome, you can:

  • Upload and download tax documents securely
  • Exchange sensitive information safely
  • Message us through encrypted client messaging
  • Receive and review completed tax documents electronically
  • Sign engagement letters, tax forms and other documents with secure e-signatures

For your protection, we do not accept tax documents or sensitive personal information by email. Email is not a secure way to send confidential financial information. Please submit documents and sensitive messages through the TaxDome portal, or drop them off in person at our office.

This keeps your personal and financial data protected and gives you one organized place for documents and year-round communication.

How It Works

1. We meet during the year.
Planning meetings to review your financial statements and make decisions before year-end, not after.

2. You send documents through TaxDome.
Everything is uploaded to the secure client portal or dropped off at the office. Nothing sensitive goes by email.

3. We prepare your return, and you sign it online.
Review the completed return in the portal and sign electronically. If your situation calls for a CPA or specialist, we tell you and make the referral.

A Trusted Advisor, Not a Once-a-Year Return

Business owners deserve more than someone who prepares a return once a year. We help you keep accurate records, stay compliant, make informed decisions and plan for taxes all year. Whether we prepare your return, coordinate with your CPA or refer you to a specialist, the commitment is the same: honest guidance, secure processes and professional support that puts your interests first.

One conversation tells us whether we are a fit. There is no obligation and no pressure.
