What We Know About Roane County

A small county where the lines still matter.

Roane County reaches into Oak Ridge.

The west end of Oak Ridge is in Roane County, not Anderson. A business there files its county business tax and tangible personal property return with Roane County, even with an Oak Ridge address.

Harriman, Rockwood, and Kingston are separate cities.

Each has its own city government, and Oliver Springs reaches in from Anderson County. Inside a city or town, you owe that city’s business tax on top of the county’s. Outside every city limit, you owe the county’s alone. It is one of the first things we confirm.

You get a person, not a ticket.

When you call, you reach someone who already knows your business. There is no queue and no case number.

Remote whenever you want it.

Documents come to us through our secure client portal or email. Meeting in person is an option you can use when you need it, not an obligation.

Who We Work With

We work with businesses across Roane County, from owner-operators doing the books on Sunday night to established companies with a full payroll.

That includes trades and contractors, title companies, salons, dental practices, physical therapy clinics, cleaning companies, artists and content creators, and chambers of commerce. See who we serve.

If you are not sure whether you are the right fit, call and ask. It is a short conversation either way.

Serving All of Roane County

Common Questions from Roane County Business Owners

Do you have an office in Roane County?

No. Our office is in Oak Ridge, and it moves to downtown Clinton in December 2026. Most of our Roane County clients work with us digitally, and we meet in person when it helps.

Do you work with businesses in Harriman and Rockwood?

Yes. We work with businesses across Roane County, including Harriman, Rockwood, Kingston, and Oliver Springs. Most of the work happens digitally, and we meet in person when it helps.

Which Tennessee filings do you handle?

Annual city and county business tax returns, monthly sales tax filings, tangible personal property returns, annual franchise and excise tax returns, and quarterly payroll tax returns. We also serve as registered agent, which keeps your LLC from being administratively dissolved because a notice went to an old address or the circular file.

Do I need a CPA or a bookkeeper?

For most businesses, a bookkeeper handles the ongoing work — recording transactions, reconciling accounts, running payroll, filing sales and business tax returns, and producing financial statements. A CPA is typically brought in for audits, complex tax strategy, or certified financial statements. We handle bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation, and we will tell you plainly if something needs a CPA. We work directly with several CPAs and will refer you to them.

How do you charge?

We bill hourly. We do not sell packages, because most businesses do not need the same amount of work every month and we would rather not charge you for hours you did not use.

Ready to hand off the books?

One conversation tells us whether we are a fit. There is no obligation and no pressure.
