Tourism runs on seasons. So do the books.

P&L Business Services provides bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation for businesses in Sevierville and across Sevier County, from Pigeon Forge to Gatlinburg. We have been doing this work for 35 years, 28 of them in Tennessee.

Sevier County’s economy is built on visitors, and that shapes the bookkeeping: seasonal hiring, sales tax that swings with the calendar, and rentals that collect more than one kind of tax. It is a different job than bookkeeping for an office park, and we treat it that way.

We bill hourly. You pay for the work you actually need, not a package built around someone else’s business.

What We Know About Sevier County

A tourism economy has its own rules, and most of them show up in the filings.

Seasonal payroll is its own discipline.

Crews that grow in the busy season and shrink in January mean hiring, W-2s, and deposit schedules that do not stay put. Getting year-end right starts with getting every pay period right.

Rentals collect more than sales tax.

Cabins and overnight rentals collect sales tax and a local occupancy tax, and which local government receives it depends on where the property sits: Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, or the county. Get that wrong and the notice comes later, with penalties.

We are part of the Sevierville business community.

P&L Business Services is a member of the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce. We know the rhythm of this county’s year because our clients live it.

Remote whenever you want it.

Documents come to us through our secure client portal or email. Meeting in person is an option you can use when you need it, not an obligation.

Who We Work With

We work with businesses across Sevierville and Sevier County, from owner-operators doing the books on Sunday night to established companies with a full payroll.

That includes trades and contractors, title companies, salons, dental practices, physical therapy clinics, cleaning companies, artists and content creators, and chambers of commerce. See who we serve.

If you are not sure whether you are the right fit, call and ask. It is a short conversation either way.

Common Questions from Sevierville Business Owners

Do you have an office in Sevierville?

No. Our office is in Oak Ridge, and it moves to downtown Clinton in December 2026. Most of our Sevier County clients work with us digitally, and we meet in person when it helps.

Do you handle payroll for seasonal staff?

Yes. Seasonal hiring is normal work for us. We keep year-to-date figures straight through the busy months and the slow ones, so W-2s and 1099s are right at year end.

Do I still file sales tax in a slow month?

Yes. Your sales tax return is due on schedule whether the month was busy or slow, and a slow month still needs a return. We keep every filing on the calendar.

Do I need a CPA or a bookkeeper?

For most businesses, a bookkeeper handles the ongoing work — recording transactions, reconciling accounts, running payroll, filing sales and business tax returns, and producing financial statements. A CPA is typically brought in for audits, complex tax strategy, or certified financial statements. We handle bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation, and we will tell you plainly if something needs a CPA. We work directly with several CPAs and will refer you to them.

How do you charge?

We bill hourly. We do not sell packages, because most businesses do not need the same amount of work every month and we would rather not charge you for hours you did not use.

Ready to hand off the books?

One conversation tells us whether we are a fit. There is no obligation and no pressure.
