Common Questions from Oak Ridge Business Owners
Is P&L Business Services leaving Oak Ridge?
Our office moves to downtown Clinton in December 2026, a short drive from Oak Ridge. We are not leaving our Oak Ridge clients. The people, the phone number, and the way we work all stay the same.
My business is in the Roane County part of Oak Ridge. Does that change my filings?
It can. Your tangible personal property return goes to the assessor in the county where your property sits, and your county business tax follows your location too. It is one of the first things we confirm with a new Oak Ridge client, because it is easy to get wrong.
Can I still meet with you in person?
Yes. Most of our work happens digitally, but we meet clients in person when it helps. Until December that is at our office on West Tennessee Avenue. After that it is our Clinton office, a short drive away.
Do I need a CPA or a bookkeeper?
For most businesses, a bookkeeper handles the ongoing work — recording transactions, reconciling accounts, running payroll, filing sales and business tax returns, and producing financial statements. A CPA is typically brought in for audits, complex tax strategy, or certified financial statements. We handle bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation, and we will tell you plainly if something needs a CPA. We work directly with several CPAs and will refer you to them.
How do you charge?
We bill hourly. We do not sell packages, because most businesses do not need the same amount of work every month and we would rather not charge you for hours you did not use.
